What can a childhood cancer fundraiser pay for?
Anything your family needs: the out-of-pocket share of treatment, travel and lodging, and the rent, groceries, and lost income while a parent is out of work. Donations go to your family, so you set the priorities.
We already have insurance. Why would we still need to fundraise?
Insurance helps with treatment, not everything treatment costs your family. It does not replace a parent's lost income over two or three years, and rarely covers travel, lodging, or sibling childcare. Those non-medical costs are what a fundraiser is for.
Do we have to hit our goal to get the money?
No. Funds go to your family as donations come in, and you keep what you raise whether you pass your goal or fall short. The goal is a rallying point, not a lock on the money.
Can a friend or family member run it for us?
Yes, and it is one of the most common setups. A grandparent, friend, or coworker can create it, post updates, and coordinate meals while the parents focus on their child. The funds still go to the family.
Will donations affect our insurance or assistance programs?
